Cambelt kit identification
« on: 12 December 2009, 13:20:50 »

I've have a small problem which i'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm changing the cambelt on a late 52 reg 2.6 and as far as I know there are 2 different kits identified by casting marks EB for the earlier cars and 01 for the later cars. Now the problem I have is the casting mark on the one already on the car has a casting mark of 6B and the idler on the backing plate is very close to cam No 3. So the question is do I use the original backing plate or fit the new 01 backing plate?

Some of the other casting marks on the back of the backing plate are-

01 kit, ARB-1001, Germany, SKF, 111-2, PMG

6B kit, ARB 1116-B, France 24449777, SKF, PMG

TIA :y

Don't quote me, but aren't D, EB and 01 all for engines with adjustable bottom idler?

I've used the old backing plate but the guide looks very close to cam 3.

As I remember the 2.6 and 3.2's top idler is very close to Cam 3 youth, just can't remember being honest what is stamped on them :)
Should be ok anyway using the back plate as long as you have changed the Idlers and Tensioner :y

Thats OK then, just didn't look right when I pulled the cam cover off and from what I remember the EB markings were for the earlier cars and 01 for the later but this one had 6B which threw me a bit.
