Misfire
« on: 12 December 2009, 18:38:57 »

Hi all, just when I thought everything was running really sweet.... :-/
Took my wife down to Capital City today  :y - noticed at a couple of junctions, pulling away was a bit lumpy, but it soon went away, and all was fine :y. Just been out to pick up my boy, and it came back again, soon followed by a flashing yellow engine light, which stuck on solid after a few seconds :'(. When I restarted the car, all was well for about 5 miles, then lumpy again, followed by the light >:(. Pulled over, restarted, good as gold until I got home. Just done the pedal test, and ECU reports 0300 random misfire & 0304 misfire cylinder 4 ::). Tried to replicate it on the driveway, but she's running fine again :-[. New GM plugs from James 2000 miles ago :y, but we did notice some rust marks on the DIS pack 2-4-6 from what looked like a previous water leak (but no leak now as far as I can see - weather been dry for a couple of days, so would have expected problems during the recent storms). Only happening at sub 3000 revs - I'm thinking of replacing that DIS pack, unless any of you guys have any thoughts??? (not great to be spending $$$ this side of Christmas  :-[) Cheers. :y

It does sound like the Coil Pack could be on its way out mate, but before paying out just check there is not water down there again.... I have seen plenty of plug wells with water in there :-?

Cheers, Daz - good shout - it would of course be the one covered by the DBW stuff! Def worth a look before shelling out the 70 quid... :y
It's bloody typical - I had a nice fast run down the Ely link road this afternoon, and was just thinking how nice she was running... jinxed it!!!

Just been through my warranty document, and it says that it covers 'All electronic ignition components including ECU, except for spark plugs and HT leads' - what do you reckon??? :)

I certainly hope so.... I don't hold much faith in these types of warranty, but it's worth a try  :y
