What sort of mileage are we talking about here guys as I guess that the belts are probably original? Mine has visible faint cracks when one way over pullys @ 99k miles, but I've been told (by those in the know) that its in reasonable shape still.

I was just wondering if it were age or miles that was the thing having the biggest impact.

I'll probably change it when the cambelt gets done in a few months time and also fit a new tensioner as I salvaged one with only a few miles on from a car I scrapped.

How much does a new belt cost?

IIRC around £20 on Trade Club. Mine is cracked to bu66ery and there's a bit missing from one side after an A/C 'specialist' numpty put it back on wrong. There's been a new belt in the boot waiting to go on for the last year or so  ;)  ;)

I changed one only last week the car had done 60 thousand miles but the belt was Brittle and hard. A new one worked at treat :y
