New Zealand 99 2.5 CD auto Omega, a few questions!
« on: 29 December 2009, 04:12:57 »

Hi guys
just a couple of question that i see have been raised here but not really answered for me, i hope you can help!
i have been a fan of Omega's for years and have had a couple, not to fond of their little "issues" though!  I travel long distances allot (about 100k a year) and prefer the comfort compared to our Commodores, although the 315kw is handy at times.

As you may know we dont actually get Omegas here the only ones are privately imported mainly from Japan so there are a few differences and our Commodores are completely redesigned although look similar, anyway!

- Cambelt: what is the difference (looks like?) between the old and "new: cambelt tensioners. mines done 70km and in an ex repo' hence i have no service history and will get it done asap alongh with a water pump. Our Holden dealer will just try and sell me anything so some info would be handy! ..

- cruise control I have read various topics here but nothing realer comes up on my model. would i be right in that i just need the cruise lever (2 wire??)and possible reset on CPU?

- I have a MAXISCAN reader that will well seems to pick up on reading codes but nothing else. i have noticed on ebay various dedicated opel code readers that look a little bit like a phone carger on a USB, do these work!?

- window regulators; my back rear window regulator is broken where the little plastic bit connects to the bottom of the regulator although has been "fixed" with a couple of self taping screws and a tube of araldite. Can the plastic bits be sourced by themselves?? for a new regulator here its about $1000 or 300 pound in your money!

- any advice on letting the old girl "breath' a bit better. she is about to get a new free flow airfilter and the cats are going to the bin. im not out for mass power but a little bit more around town would be great! (we dont have the same legal issues here) im not interested in "big power" as i mentioned we have 500hp Commodores and Falcons here that are generaly cheaper but ride and handle like a bastard! (if you compare year for year etc)

last, i dont know if its just my car and its previous moron owner but i have a sticky glue substance, like what remains behind after you pull off an old sticker over all my button controls on the dash the lights and door controls!. i have tried everything to the point the paint is coming of the switches but the bloody glue is still there, what the hell is going on!?

Hope you guys can help,
Cheers!
