Which engine do you have?

If you add your vehicle details to your profile it will save others asking the same question.

There is no short cut to changing the pump on the v6, and it does not affect the operation of the cambelt.
However, in order to gain access to the pump you need to remove quite a few ancillery bits and pieces as well as the timing belt cover, so it makes sense to replace the belt AND tensioner /idler pulleys if they are due for replacement in the near future. You can buy a dvd from the shop on this site that explains exactly how to do both jobs.

V6 water pump swap took me a couple of hours - for a further 10 minutes work could have swapped cam belt and tensioners!!

Hence it makes sense to swap water pump when doing cambelt - I didn't and had to do all the stripping out again!!
