Hello and welcome to the forum :)

In the paperwork you should have a small card the size of a visiting card .... called a "carpass" .. armed with that any Vx dealer can get you new keys for both the car and the wheel locks.

I've no idea what they cost though.

Dont be intimidated by all the Elites, MV6s and CDXs on this forum, we dont discriminate, and a 'lowly' 2.0 ECOTEC is still one of the best, most-used and reliable engines Vauxhall ever made. Yes, you could have more spec, more power, or more economy, but it's up to you, ultimately.

This Omega sounds like a fine workhorse to me, though not sure which would work out cheaper - New keys/ etc from VX, or complete new locks inc keys from a breaker / oofer?

Just check that underneath theres not obvious expensive work, as its been standing, all you need is a couple of wishbones, drop links, corroded brake lines and some welding work needed to pass mot, and you've exceeded the cars value just to get it on the road.

Personally id throw a few quid at it, have a play, and even if you only get a few months fun out of it, then it's got to be considered worth it! WHo knows, maybe it'll lead onto a bigger and better Omega?

Hi, and welcome to the club!
Best thing to do is to make sure you have searched and better searched for a set of keys. Even when you find them the remote fob batteries may well be dud. One thing not mentioned is that if you do not have the CarPass which gives all of the relevent security details of the car from which VX can issue new keys and perform many other operations it can be obtained from VX for a small charge, the details being retrieved from their comapny database. It is what I did and it cost me about 20 quids for the new PassCard.
Secondly it will only be of use if the car has not been tampered with by fitting equipment that is not the original component of the car. This includes the ECU, Radio, CD Player, Immobilsier, Lock barrells and so on. I found that out to my cost too and the only way you know it has been done is when they enter the details from the new PassCard into their Diagnostic equipment and it does not work! Yeah! its another VX Rippoff cos there is no refund! For 20 quids its worth a try though.
Your best way if it did not not work would be to obtain the relevent matched components from a seller, all the components, including key fobs and transducers from one vehicle mind, and fit them to yours. Its a long boring job but an easy one.
Hope that lot helps.

Thanks alot everyone I realy appreciate your help, in regards to the security key ill deffinitely be looking on ebay  :y,
and the information about the passcard was also helpful. I know its not the biggest of engines with all the toys but as it completely standard does anyone know of any little modifications that i could do to change both the look and drive of the car ?
