what i have found even more weird this week is: rwd omega getting up inclines that fwd astra and focus did not without a push, and my 1989 escort no tc doing the best.  Narrow tyres maybe?

Probably more to do with driving technique to be honest. :(

The number of people who have no idea is absolutely amazing .. :(

I like many know that the standard of any brit on snow will be lower than a swede, but why cant we make the simple decision about a journey being ' necessary'... in other words is it worth putting your life at risk to do that journey. For driving technique we should all watch the footwork of rally drivers....truely amazing.    OH   agreed   technique mmmm  tooo many wheel spinners.  If it's spinning it aint gripping.

We all knew nothing once .. and from that point on we learn, usually with assistance from others .. but sometimes by experimentation ..  :)

The important thing is to learn ... if you survive the experimentation parts !!
