Hello !
Today at 10 degrees C my omega 2.5 td bmw engine had a really slow cold start . Until now it was all ok . I noticed if i let the engine an hour or so , the same thing happened . if i start the engine stop it and start it again it is ok ... for now i checked and changed leaky injectors return and i will give it a test again .
Car is facelift year 2000 manual box.
What should i check if problem still stays?

Glow plugs worth checking

I will check them but i'm in a serious doubt about the glow plugs because a week ago car started at -10 celsius very fast

Glow plugs and battery are the first checks here I think
Mine was starting fine one day then the next no.
If it starts ok when warm then I would suspect GP first, especially if the car has a mileage approaching 100k. That's when mine gave up, well 3 of them.
If so then fit the best, not cheapo ebay one's.

do they have fuel heaters on them engines, had a diesel years ( not omega) ago and it had a fuel heater on the fuel line, only came on when it was cold and the dash flashed when turn'd the key before starting on position 1.

Don't think so. When my gloplug(s) went, same symptoms. Turned out it was only one that had failed, but as the inlet manifold has to come off, (bit tricky), I changed all four, using VX OE. That was five years ago, and they cost then, retail, £87.00, no problems since in starting from cold.

Well i will schedule glow plug check and return pipes under intake wich lead to pump ... also i saw a faq to check the lift pump ...mileage on my omega is 210.000 km.

Interesting ... today's start was with tank low , almost on red.
Now i filled about half of it , i'll let it overnight and start tomorrow.
However  i will check glow plugs , clean intake , and lift pump

fuel heater is on the filter housing screws on above the filter easy to leave loose when filter is changed!!
