Oil Change
« on: 12 January 2010, 12:05:32 »

Hi Guys

Just want your opinion. Need to change the oil on the miggy has'nt been changed for 12 months.

Can't do it myself as I have'nt the tools or the room or the experience for that matter.

Had the car MOT'd (passed woohoo!!!) today at my local Kwik-Fit and they quoted me £40 using Mobil 1 oil. Now I can't even buy the oil for that price?

Any experience of using Kwik-Fit or any horror stories to be aware of.

Thanks in advance

Have a read of this..... (v6 is much the same, just takes 5.5L instead of 5L)

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1157034829

It really is a doddle, costs me around £10 to change my oil with GM filter and oil.

And i find the gm oil is quite good,i tend to tip some engine flush in for a couple of days prior to oil change to loosen any crud. :y

Its also very, very satisfying when its done yourself.  :)

Possible, i did have a cheapo one, then bought a 'proffesional' 3 ton low one, cost me about £60.

Even if you buy the jack, its still cheaper than what Vaux quoted, then 2/3 changes down the line you are quids in.

Due to my millage, i change my oil every 4-6 weeks.
