Can't help you with opening the bonnet, but someone will be along shortly who can.

I do have a spare cable though, new and complete except for the inboard plastic lever bit.  I had the lever break, and Vx only sell the whole assy, so I ended up with a spare cable as I couldn't be bothered to change anything except the lever.

You would have to cut a small (wire-wide) slot in your current lever to get the old cable out and new one in though; you can do this in a position where it doesn't affect function.  You'd also need to check that they're all the same over the model range/model years.
Yours for a fiver delivered if you want it.

Sorry Mate, I can't help either, but I feel sure someone on here has done it. I have just been out to mine & had a look, even if you chopped a couple of slats out of the grille, it would be difficult. Haynes is of no use either. I would say that the RAC/AA have the instructions in their little black books, just a thought.

Have a look at this thread.... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1167494572/0 - but he may be talking about a pre-facelift bonnet

Also http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1177180528/0, and if it does need adjustment, this...

Good luck :) - I'm sure others will be along with more ideas  :y

Rockhampton, the first one does refer to a pre-facelift. Nice searching though.

asked a block at garage and he said you need a long screw driver and put in the vent at front  and pull to the left when you have in the right place on the catch.
