Too much oil bad?
« on: 16 January 2010, 19:02:50 »

my car was running a little low on oil so topped it up. however by the time it settled i realised i had put in just a tad too much, about 2mm past the MAX marker on the dipstick.

will this be a problem? car will be serviced next weekend and will only drive it for a few more days till the service.

2mm will do no harm. I engraved my dipstick in quarters between the high and low notches which takes 1 lt to top up. It is easier now to guage just how much to add.
Remember though that hot oil expands and cold oil contracts so making the game a little more interesting if you are adding cold oil to a hot engine.
Why is life so freekin complicated?
