Quick Question - Brake Pads
« on: 18 January 2010, 13:36:29 »

Just a quickie - Looks like I need front brake pads but I'm not going to have the time to get down to the vx dealer to pick up new ones on TC. I've had a quick look at Eurocarparts and they have these, anyone have an opinion on them ?

Eicher Front pads axle set £16.35 inc vat and del
Eicher Pad wear sensor cable £6.66 inc vat and del

They also have Pagid pads £18.97 inc vat + del . I assume the Eicher wear sensor cables will fit the pagid pads.

Are Eicher or Pagid any good ?

Cheers

Dodsy

ETA: Yes I know the OE are the best but as the fronts are low and the wheels will be off next week having the new wishbones fitted might as well get pads done at the same time. But I need them to be delivered - if no one has a nice word to say about these brands then I'll have to wait a few weeks (pads will last that long) just trying to save a job and more time off he road.

Pagid do make some very good pads, but I imagine they probably make budget pads too. Not heard of Eicher personally so my choice would probably be with the Pagids.

I don't bother with the wear sensors, personally. If you keep on top of maintenance they are redundant IMHO.

if the wear sensor cables arent installed does that show a fault ? do they need to be shorted ?

I think I'll wait until I can get to the dealer and buy some genuine pads.

modify old sensors (which will break) into a short 2" loom, shorted at end, and plug them into socket. Keeps the socket clean should you wish to return to sensors.
