Repairs in Derby?
« on: 15 January 2010, 15:49:05 »

Hi need to sort out a few ongoing issues and my local garage has 'dissappeared' over night!, don't want to be ripped off and need cam cover gasgets and possibly 2/3 solenoid replacing on gearbox.
Any one know a decent friendly garage near city? (otherthan pentagon rip off vauxhall)

I need a couple of jobs doing on mine, and I'm in Derby.  Maybe we could ask one of the boys on here to come over to do both.
That's of course if you can wait, they may be busy ;)
Let me know :y

Mick ;)

nearside and offside (main) brake pipe excessively corroded.
nearside and offside rear brake pipe excessively corroded.
Offside rear shock absorber has serious fluid leak.
Nearside rear tyre.
offside rear wheel bearing has excessive play(annoyed as replaced 3 months ago).
Offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort
front brake application uneven
Front brakes unbalanced(replaced pads and discs on front about 9 months ago with no problems)

And of couse all the original problems, auto box I can live with but oil leaks need doing, and I suspect now the power steering as it feels occasionally heavy and makes noises when on full lock

I'm sure the guys on here could do some of these jobs easily I have had offers but now the mot failed it seems like a lot of money

Anyone reckon it's worth fixing? It's been a good car towing and cruising car over the years despite it's problems

Depends on what your budget for a new motor would be?

Tyre is just a running cost and all the other problems seem to be brake related or suspension again not overly expensive if you can do the work yourself :y

Yes I guess so just lost my confidence, replaced brakes and discs front and back 8 months ago, no sticking pistons all done by the book, and now the MOT says RBT front brake imbalance 42%, All seems fine under braking in fact they are excellent brakes so perhaps I just need to break out the spanners and wd40(not for the brakes!) and find a buddy to help
