can anyone shed some light on my problem please!!!!! or have i bored you all lol

dont know if its the same but on my 2.2 if you stand at the front of car (underneath obviously)and look at the n/s about half way up the bell housing theres a hole in the block and there is the(flywheel)15mm socket on a flexi and extension 5 or 6 bolts and thats it,the haynes only goes to 1999 iirc and it does show a gromit at bottom to get to flywheel and a plate or gromit to allow you access to bolts but not on mine 2001 you really want to take box off with tc its a lot easier to fit tc to box rather than box to tc,if im wrong someone will correct

ok so as for effort on taking the box out with the tc box attached its no different ? also is there anything i should be away wen taking it out like wires on top or a large amount of oil coming out as tc still in place, so far i have everything of apart from tc bolts, thanks steve

TC needs to come off with box, and its utterly critical that tc is inserted fully in box before refitting box

Yeh, only rtun the crank clockwise.....and when you re-fit the tc needs to go FULLY onto the box before fitting

ok got that . so why do some say undo tc bolts before taking out the box?

Practice for putting them back in

Seriously, I find it easier, as you have drag of box to help undo them

lol so basically its harder to pull the box of with out undoing the tc bolts

rob i think i may have undone the wrong bolts!!!! does the tc sit inside bellhousing then as i undone the bolts which was 13mm and 19mm going from starter motor all the way round!

when you buy a new box it should come with the tc so basically drop yer box and you will see the tc bolted to your engine and hopefully all will come come to light of what peeps have been saying,carefull as you drop it for any plugs still connected and the breather on top(this is if you get the tc with your replacement box)the haynes tells you about and shows pics of the tc in the box and if irrc the mating surface of the tc to driveplate should be 15mm into the box from the bell housing face(god thats sad)

You can remove the box without the torque convertor but the T/C MUST be removed and fully engaged within the bellhousing for re-fitting.
