If ECO is displayed on the digital display on the facelift cc panel ac is OFF  .....  pressing ECO again turns ac ON ... if ECO is NOT displayed on the facelift climate control panel then ac is ON  ..... i knew i wasnt explaining this properly  :-?.... when air conditioning is turned on the fan in front of the radiator no longer runs like it used to do when i used it in the summer ..... is this just because it is below the point in the manual that the ac cooling compressor turns off
Taken from the manual ... VAUXHALL OMEGA 2002 ......

Operation with the cooling unit is only
possible at temperatures above approx.
5 °C. Below this temperature the cooling
unit (cooling compressor) switches off
automatically.

Does this explain why my ac seems to be not working and my windows were steaming up ......
I dont know how else to explain it better ....
ECO in display =ac OFF
ECO NOT in display = ac ON

I thought i could still use the ac to de-humidify the incoming air to stop the steam up problem or does the air conditioning just cut off completely below 5 degrees as the manual says  :-/ :-/ :-/

Proz, I know you must be pretty cheesed off by now, but try all the relays in the large box on top of the battery & check they are all fitted tightly, also the connectors to both fans. Also do a search for 'fan test' in the forum search facility (this is for 6 cyl cars with  fans but should still be ok for 4 cyl models) HTH :y

If I understand you correctly ...  when you have the air con running in Auto (not OFF or ECO), the fan no longer turns ... like it used to ( and should AFAIK !!).

You wish to know if this is temp related thing you've read about, or a problem with the electrics ...  :)

Yep thats the one  ;D ;D ;D ..... is the fan at the front only needed for cooling such as when in summer and therefor doesnt run if like the manual says its below 5 degrees outside .. i used to hear a slight change in engine noise and could hear the fan run when ac turned on ... now it doesnt seem to do anything so i dont know if ac is working or not  :y

Mmm ... temperature outside yesterday was 6 degrees outside and still the ac fan in front of the radiator wouldnt run , i know its still near the claimed 5 degrees cut of stated in the manual ... the engine bay fuses look fine to me but is there any to check in the cabin fuse box ... there are so many  ;D

Sounds like an AC fault but....below 4degC and you dont need aircon to dry the air as its already very dry.

When it happens again...cycle through the re-circ options to reset the recirc valves (with it finishing off as auto re-circ)

Ok thanks i will do .... i think i'll take it to Halfrauds and get there free A/C check thing done .... i do have a Haynes manual somewhere for the fuse numbers etc but i cant find the stupid thing  ::)

ok, I had this problem and when I visited the stealers they said that in inclement weather and sub zero tempratures you need to set the Aircon on and press the recirculation button twice so the letter 'A' appears in the centre of the recirulation icon on the display, apparently doing this causes the air to be de-humidified even though the aircon system would not normally start this is an overide, thus meaning no steamed up windows, I thought the were speaking bull, but it worked !!!
