well, went to vauaxhall yesterday and they wanted around £73 with tc for the sensor, which to me seems a little on the expensive side

Hes having a laugh.

It should be:

90540743 Retail - £53.50, Trade - £48.20, Tradeclub - £41.47

all plus 17.5% of course.

I suspect there quoting for the wrong part number (e.g. 90492006 which ash a rectangular connector and wont fit but is more pricey)

yes it is....give them a call and ask for a trade club price for that part number.
