Mpg comparisons

Can anyone tell me the difference in mpg between a 2.5 and a 3.0 both auto and the difference in mpg between auto and manual, as I have a grand to spend on a omega, I'm after a pre-facelift pref 3.0, am I hoping?

Nope... Not hoping at all. Depends on driving style etc but in a 3.0 auto

22 Around town, as long as you don't floor it all the time ::) ::)
30+ on a run :y :y

Hopefully there'll be a LPG converted elite saloon up for sale soon ::)... Be a little over your £1k budget but if you can stretch it you can save quite a bit on your fuel costs :y

[edit]IIRCC there isn't a lot of difference between the 2.5 and the 3.0 economy[/edit]

I've had a 2.5 auto and now a 3.0 auto. The 3.0 is slightly worse around town doing around 19mpg but slightly better than the 2.5 on a run. 30-32 easily achievable by the 3.0 on a run.

My 3.0 manual returns around 21 on pretty much all short runs about town....about 7miles at a time  :P ...from a full tank.
Gets much better on decent runs, motorway to Liverpool and back (from Poole) saw about 35mpg :)

my 2.5 only does 3 mile trips most days, and with a heavy right foot comes in at about 18mpg!  On a run though it's well over 30...

What sort of MPG equivalent do you get from your LPG set up Paul ? I am currently in the process of checking the MPG on the little Merc I bought, and bearing in mind how sluggish it is if it doesnt return mid 30,s then its going and it will be back to plan A, which was an LPG car. ;)

I get around 300 miles to a 71 L fill up on my "around town" type journeys (that's Suffolk type town ::) ::)) without treating the pedal like my nuts are under it ::) ::) and 350+ on a run at 75-80 mph :y :y

So I'd say that in reality it's somewhere in the region of 45mpg average on the combined cycle... And that's not hanging about ;) ;) ;)

Thats better than I thought tbh, plan A is looking more attractive by the minute.  :)

There should be a little notice as I'm planning to get the replacement sorted and possibly converted before it goes ;) ;)

It'll have a new Cam Belt Kit, service and MOT in the next few weeks :y :y

It's doesn't get any better with a 4 pot either.
Short town journeys around 22mpg, longer motorway cruising around 36mpg.

the on board computer always reads between 18.5-20.5 with 75% of the time city driving

im sure its using petrol along with lpg any reason for this? i hate filling up with petrol ugh
