valeting question
« on: 21 January 2010, 13:25:07 »

I have a charcoal interior in my Mig. The problem is that I frequently have to wipe off mud marks from the backs of the front seats, where the kids have been putting their feet up. It doesn't matter what I try, from a damp cloth to a proprietary cleaner, I always get light grey wipe marks after cleaning, most particularly on the hard plastic surfaces (the seat pockets). :(

If anyone else has experienced this and knows of a solution, please let me know!     :y

I had a similar problem.
Car interior is beige, and when I bought it you couldnt tell the real colour (car was maintained and cleaned but the colour was simply to awful to take care of)
So tried everything and almost nothing worked till I got a great advice.
For the carpets Vanish carpet cleaner really works.
For the plastic parts use window cleaner shampoo and spray it on and leave for 2-3 minutes. Just make sure you wipe it of with a soft cloth damped in water afterwards (you may need to repeat it a few times).
This was the only thing that worked on mine

The hard seatbacks in mine are black (leather seats) and I use a trim polish. I use it on the lighter grey trim too and as the product is a neutral colour it does not change the original colour.
The initial clean is done with an all surface kitchen cleaner (non-bleach) (ASDA's best).

Wipe off with a normal damp cloth, and then i spray silicon spray on the plastic and door rubbers,it seems to mask any scuffs and marks,oh and be warned it dont half shine mate. ;)

Forgot to thank everyone for their useful replies. If it ever stops raining, I'll try a few of the ideas out!   ;) :y
