Fuel reset switch
« on: 25 January 2010, 12:11:46 »

Hi, I have a 1998 v6 3 litre omega elite, the car cut out on me when I was driving and has not run since (2-months) I was towing a trailer at the time and have been told by a garage that the car may have sensed a rear bump and cut the fuel off therfore, requires resetting as there is no power to the fuel pump/spark this sounds simple but I/we cannot locate it anywhere. I was told it was in the boot area by the latch but I cannot locate it at all. Please could someone help as I am at my witsend...........

No reset switch. Is the EML light on. Paperclip it and see if you have any codes. Sounds like crank sensor

Hi Rob, The EML light is not on also the crank shaft sensor was replaced about 12 months ago along with a new coil pack, leads and plugs. Not to sure what you mean by the paper clip test.

So it could well be gone again then... Was it a genuine one?

Check the codes... Bet there's a 19 stored :y :y

If the engine isnt running does this mean I will get a reading of 31 for no RPM each time if so how do I locate the problem from there.

As fare as I know it was genuine as he was a ex vauxhall lookers fiter. However I will check with the garage regarding the number 19 stored if this is the case would you recomend replacing the sensor again.

Yes, you may get a 31, which can be ignored. If there's a code 19, replace the C/S again, with a genuine one, and I would strongly advise re-routing the cable away from the exhaust as per the guide :y :y
