Fault codes (2.2 auto)
« on: 22 January 2010, 18:52:16 »

Hi, Having some issues with my 2000 2.2 auto omega.
It has the eng management light on so put it on a diagnostic.
codes were as follows;
P1555 - Throttle position sensor load signal not plausable with engine speed
P0700 - EOBD error stored by transmition control (TC) modul
the tcm code will not clear.

symptoms - sluggish pull away (as if its starting in a higher gear) & poor gear changing.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

ok, stupid question.
Where can i find the Throttle position sensor in the engine bay??
Also, while i am at it. Where is the Transmition control module?

Managed to get the TC fault cleared. ( there were faults in the transmission section stopping me from clearing)
The throttle position sensor fault is still coming back though, after driving for 1/5 mile or so.

Cheers,

Ricky

The fault was p705 - automatic transmission sensor circuit malfunction

Cleared it but it comes back after a couple of hundred yards. This causes the car to pull away in what feels like second gear & will not go in to top gear.

Any ideas??

Does anyone know if there is a circuit or sensor that i can change to try fix this issue?
Or is it an expensive repair?  :(

Many thanks

This is driving me crazy.

Just noticed that on top of the gearbox issue i am having, the gear selector lights are flashing sometimes & D and 2 are not iluminating in the car.
Cleaned the selector switch hoping that would cure my gearbox faults, but no joy. (the lights on the selector are still not working correctly either)

Any pointers would be appreciated as i am stumped. :-?

From memory, that is a Range Switch Malfunction (Selector switch). Replace it.

Gearbox limp is 3rd gear, thus poor acceleration, and 4th is locked out normally.

LOL, that points fair and square at the selector switch.

lol, just seen your reply after i posted.
Car will not go in top gear as you said, & only number 3 lights up on the selector.

So.... am i to replace the thing that i tried to clean?? (the gear selector)
If so, how does the wiring come off as i could only get it to drop slightly from the car to allow cleaning.

thanks again

Unclip the black multi-plug. Odds-on if you cleaned it in situ it probably made sod all difference. Remove it completely and strip it and give it a good clean with switch cleaner then re-fit, adjust and try it again. Have a read of this http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1231586488/10 :y

It has a short length of loom (6" approx) and a bloody great multiconnector. Get car high enough, you can't miss it.

Blooming expensive new, a known good 2nd hand one (try Darth Loo-knee) is the best way forward in my opinion
