Fuel Consumption!
« on: 25 January 2010, 22:13:10 »

Ok now I know Im heavy footed and do drive a little too fast but I have noticed that my average consumption around town has dropped to 13.5.

What would the usual faults be to cause the consumption to drop. It had an oil/filter change, fuel filter, air filter, and plugs not long ago (within 3000 miles) so I would have though these should be fine but the drop appears quite dramatic.

I have seen that most people state they should be getting around the 18 mark even with a heavy right foot so suggestion would be good!!  ::)

Thinking about it I do get a slight hunting on tickover, and if I leave it stood running for a long period on tickover after quite some time it will attempt to stall then settle down again and be fine for another 3-4 minutes then try again. Ive checked codes and there are none but I wonder if It could be related.

Whats the best way to get to the breathers??

Also clogged injectors could be the issue.

Would blocked breathers give a reduction in power as well??

Don't think so at least not noticeable (not sure) but they woould cause the cam cover gaskets to leak cause of overpresurizing
