Leaky plumbing
« on: 27 January 2010, 17:29:06 »

I appear to have sprung a small leak somewhere. At first I thought I might have an HG on the way out as I've noticed a bit of mayo on the oil filler and cap and was losing a small quantity of coolant. However on further investigation there's definitely a leak. I've checked under the car for the last couple of days and there's a small wet patch on the ground under the front of the car (passenger side) and looks like it could be from the radiator area. Any idea's as to what's in that area that might be the cause? Hopefully the mayo in the filler/cap (nothing on dipstick) is due to doing a few short journey's recently. :-/

hmm, unusual, most leaks seem to drip off the back of the bell housing ime.

Is it possible an after affect of your big dent incident? although didnt think it was to heavy a bump from what you said? or possibly radiator drain needs doing up?

Could it be coming from thermostat and then down front of engine? Do you park on a slope?

No, the "big dent" accident was on the other side! ;)

No, it really is close to the front (just slightly further back from the front bumper) and the only obvious thing in that area would appear to be the radiator. Car is parked on flat ground.

Radiator drain tap is on that side. Has it had a coolant change recently? The O ring seals in the tap do break up when disturbed sometimes.

Failing that, Could it be from around the top hose entry into the radiator or where the fan switch screws into the radiator? (dripping down the side of the rad)

Could be the radiator itself, of course. :-/

Cheers Kev, I thought the drain tap might be on that side, so a possibility. Last time coolant was changed was early last year when HBV was replaced.
