H Folks,

Just a quick question...  Been having a look at this guide for removing the centre console panel:

How do you get the buttons/blanking plates out?  Do you sprise them out from the front with a screwdriver?

Also, how do you remove the panel that goes from the handbrake to the centre console?

I looked for the "how to" for removing the centre console trim, but couldn't find it... 

In terms of getting the switches out - with the radio out, is it just a case of prising the knife between the back of the switch and the dash panel (from the direction of the gap where the radio was fitted) and sprising them out?

Once that's sorted, do the multiplugs for the switches just sprise out from the back of the dash panel in the same way as the switches?

Prise the side of the switch. Multi-plugs are held with tangs, press in then pull out Hazard switch front just pulls off then tangs at top and bottom for the multi (quite tight fit)

Sorry - by the sides of the switch, is that like the base of the switch at the side?

But the hazard needs the switch button (the bit with the triangle on that you push in) prising off as oppose to the actual switch base itself - if that makes any sense?!

Yes.  With the hazard button, pull the piece with the triangle on, it`ll come off. Then, at the top and bottom of the part left in the surround you will see a black tang, push top one down and bottom one up and push back in so it is released from the console switch surround

Just done the exact thing on my ex plod. Finally put the wood dash in and got rid of the poverty spec black just a quick question do any of you guys know how the wood attaches to the door cards ? Do the door cards have to come off

Yes but it's easier to replace the door cards. They are plastic welded on on the facelifts.

No you don`t.
You only need new cards if you can`t get hold of the wood infills

Remove doorcards, gently drill out the back of the plastic "rivets" until the melted heads come off.
Prise the plastic trim out and do what you need.
Refit by using a No.8x1/2" self tapper screw in each "rivet".

God-I looked at the 20 rivets on the back of mine and thought it impossible, or not worth doing.

I suppose, if your door card is mint and you used the self tappers it would be worth a go....wouldn't bother myself.

I have used the tiny self-tappers to re-attach the door card to the top mounting strip which welung666 showed me to do and this worked very well.

Yes mate got the gearsound aswell there a little beat up but yours if you want them
