You can't buy just the sensor from VX ... and if at a scrappy why not take the whole header tank ???

Damned sight quicker and easier ... as I reckon you have to take the tank off to get access to where the sensor is .. in order to butcher it out. !!

How do I remove the tank? Is it an easy job?

If memory serves you just take off the water pipes, unplug the electrics, lift off the tank. I don't recall it being fixed in any special way ...  and its a tad late to wander off with a torch ..  :)

There's a metal clip - abit like a hair clip - at the wing side of the tank.  :y

Either drain system or clamp rubber hoses, remove both hoses from tank, remove metal clip quoted by Andy, it lifts straight up, then slide tank inwards towards engine and lift up gently. Then unclip electrical connection at base of tank. :y
