bonnet opener

Is there any other way to open the bonnet of a 98 MV6 other than the pull release? Mine doesn't work.

Does it feel like tha cable has broken? Or does the cable feel as though it's pulling something but just not opening the bonnet? You might find that you need an assistant to pull/push on the front edge of the bonnet as you pull the bonnet release.  ;)

Try standing outside the car , and while pulling the bonnet release catch gently bang the offside rear corner of the bonnet. Unless of course the cable is broken then it won't work

i second mr Bees option if that fails then its try to release it by putting your hand up from under the car a releaseing it or cut the front grill slats off.

Whenever my bonnet won't open, I get someone to press down on the front middle of the bonnet firmly, and then with the lever still pulled open, lifted.  It hasn't failed for me yet...  Which of course is exactly what Mr B. has already said... ;)

Does the cable have feel like it should release it? Or completley loose?

Get a fat mate to sit on the bonnet, as you pull the release  :y

hhhmmm, my bonnet is going through a similar phase....getting someone to push down at the front always does the trick :)

Thing is, looks like the cable pulls the catch sufficiently, think perhaps the spring bit (note the technical term) on the bonnet underside is catching somehow - perhaps it can be adjusted ? Anyone ?
