correct but trouble is vx stick there ones on befor they put the engine in

and them are all way garanted   to turned around with the bit you need the grips in with 3mm gap between it and that bulkhead


hence the juberly clips for next time you change

id rather risk buying a new hose that the riped up hands next time i need to change the HBV

Scuttle off makes all the difference and probably adds no more than 10 minutes to the job . (But if you do it following the 'How To' guide here, and then lay it upside down out of the way, remember that the little half-turn plastic clips are not captivated! They fall out unless you take them out first!) I also whipped off the vac pipe between the plenum and the servo - again, a few seconds extra work that makes all the difference to how much knuckle and forearm skin you donate!

While I had mine off I replaced those nasty hose clips with proper Jubilee clips. Makes re-assembly SO much easier! And a bit of universal lubricant (spit!) helps the hoses slide on nicely.

I was always taught NOT to use jubilee clips on water hoses. They do not expand as the water heats up and dig into hoses causing splits and leaks. They can also cause damage to the "pipe" the hose is on .. especially the plastic ones on a radiator.

That is why fancy spring clips are used .. to allow for expansion .... if jubilee clips were the answer .. don't you think the makers would fit them

Jubilee clipped mine also. 

No way do I want to ever go through the pain and suffering as I did that day changing that poxy thing.

I did mine on a caravan site in Kent in about an hour. I wouldn't think about doing the job without taking the scuttle off, as said, it only adds 10 mins to the job - Torx screw at the driver's side, 2 wiper arms & a handfull of 1/4 turn fasteners

Easy enough job... I can't really get my shovels in there without removing the scuttle but, as everyone else has stated, it's only another 10 minutes or so (assuming you can get the wipers off without cracking the screen )

And as for the spring clips... What's the problem... I bet it's as easy to get some mole grips in as it is to get a screwdriver in :-? :-? :-?

True... Most decent clips are the correct size for a ratchet driver without any bits in

no sping clips are positioned so the the bits that stick out you put the molegrips are against the back of engie bay

with hardly enougth roop to get a fag paper in let alone the molegrips

Like all manufacturers Vx fit spring clips 'coz they're both quicker to fit on the production line, and they require no skill to fit properly (they can't be over- or under tightened). If a Jubilee clip is cutting into the hose or damaging the spigot it's either the wrong size, or too tight, or both.
