Ok so finally got my new tyrs all four of them fitted by Blackboots (WIM).... once the car was in the air it seemed that there were afew more problems lurking.... both back springs were snapped ..the helix broken away and the wishbone have got loads of play and need replacing... so

How much for 2 new springs... and how hard to do ?

how much for 2 new front wishbones and how hard to do ?

An do they need to be Vx parts?

Any help gratefullt received

Dear me m8, you have got a bit of expense looming. I have recently done both front wishbones and rear springs the total cost for parts being about 200 notes.
The wishbones were 58.00 each and the springs around 27.00 each.
Wishbones fairly straightforward and relatively easy to do the only difficulty being the hidden bolt heads of the rear mounting. It is too easy to drop the bolt inside the chassis and lose it. I opted to buy a couple of spares just to be safe. Remember to only tighten them as per the instructions or they will not last!
Rear springs are easy enough if you buy, borrow or hire a set of coil spring compressers. I took off the rear shocker mountings to aid access and by using a bit of leverage and using the spring compressers to their maximum I did not have to drop the diff.
When you are done I would have it tracked and all four wheels re-aligned too. WIM's are the BEST!

is pretty good for prices and the wishbones I got came in the same bag as my mates did from the local VX dealership.
The springs I got from a local factor but were also in boxes marked with the GM logo.
They have all been on now for getting on two years and show no signs of wear seeing as they have flown through the test again. The roads around here are very badly maintained too with loads of potholes and I ain't a slow driver.

Thanks for that Bionic... well it is even more than that as I need 4 new tyres £400 and a new exhaust! so I am looking at a grand!

ANyway Is it worth using Vx wishbones and springs... does anyone have an opinion on that or are patent ones ok ... and are there several different parts or are all cars the same springs?

If you have VERY deep pockets then you could use Vx wishbones , i belive they are about £250 each  :o :o :o

Vx Wishbones are about £150 Each :o :o and IMO not worth the extra money... Springs are a personal choice - I wouldn't pay Vx prices personally ;) ;)

As for changing the rear springs... It's easier to drop the diff than using spring compressors :y :y

Wishbones are OK... As said, just be careful not to drop a bolt and tighten as per the guide. Last wishbones I did were on a campsite and took a little over 2 hours for the pair, including several Tea breaks and looking at a few other cars/problems for people too :y :y

I only replaced the wishbones 2 years ago and I remmeber it being rather difficult to do .... the worst bit being that the front wheels were "drunk" afterwards and I never really got them right ... as I am going to have the line up done by WIM ... I need to get the line up approx in order to do the 50 mile trip ... nayone got any tips?

They should return to (virtually) the same position they're in now... And if WIM are fitting your new boots then it's not too bad if you scrub out the tyres on the way ;) ;)

Like I said... If you follow the guide for the tightening they will be very close to where they are now :y :y I wouldn't advise any form of setup other than WIM TBH

OK thanks for the advice ... any makes that I should look out for ... someone said Delphi were ok... any tips and should the rear springs be OEM?

HAve just been told that the OEM manufacturers for the wishbones are Lemforder and for the springs Boge...is this correct?

Replaced my wishbones (£101.89 for the pair) with QH ones about 3 weeks (2900 miles) ago and I can report that I have had no problems with them. VX wanted £224 EACH + vat!
QH products come with a 12 month warranty.
I replaced my rear springs with heavy duty ones from Andrew Page (can't remember the make) for £76 the pair.
Both jobs are fairly easy.
