Good/Bad spark plugs?
« on: 04 February 2010, 16:42:07 »

Looking into which brand of plugs to buy I see they range from Denso copper cored at £2.47 each, though Bosch and NGK, up to Denso Iridium at £9.09 each (plus VAT) - that's nearly £65 for six!

The skinflint in me says to go for the cheapest as they'll probably be ok. It also tells me to avoid the dearest as they can't possibly be nearly four times better!

Chances are that one of the middling ones is my best bet. Anyone got any preferences? Ones to avoid? (Given the work involved in just changing the plugs I don't want to do it twice!)

Cheers,
Gaz

Sorry to disagree, had a problem with gm plugs some time ago, switched to NGK Iririum IX, lasted 60k, just replaced them £36 the 6 including delivery, ebay.
Good luck

I'm afraid I have to disagree with your disagreement! Fitted GM plugs recently, immediate improvement on the ones put in by the last rubbish garage that did a service for me.

I've never had a problem with GM plugs in any of my cars past or present, and you could buy atleast 25 of the things for £36  ;) :y

It's not a great advantage for them to last over about 40k. Remove them after any more miles and you'll find they've started to work loose anyway. I agree the GM ones are fine (even on LPG) and it's not really worth looking any further.

What's this I hear? The genuine Vx part being best/cheapest?!?! :o

So if I walk into my nearest Vx dealer, and ask for a set of plugs for my Miggy, I'm going to get change from a tenner?

I had an idea "about £1 each" was a bit on the cheap side!
