Did you know that it looks like the Omega has a clever ECU cooling fan?
My arch liner on the front wheelarch is missing and today I decided to check what was and wasn't likely to foul the wheel, and remove the Secondary Air pump.
Once I'd done the pump (and found somewhere to relocate the horns too as I was removing the pump completely, I noticed a plastic tube leading from the engine bay to behind the side repeater. I pulled it out and 15 years of muck and crud came tumbling out, complete with a big motor thing! I can only assume it's a fan/air pump to pump cool air into or suck warm air out of the ECU location where all the wiring and fuses is.
Well, I've removed the bugger, it's clear that it's not been working for years as it was full of dirt and the motor assembly has long siezed.
I'm now plotting how or if to replace it - I'm thinking I might design something myself as now I have the tube out I can have more of a think.
So after owning a few miggys, you still learn something each time you work on it.
Tomorrow, removing the dreaded Power Sounder!
Cheers,
James
