Sadly, given the current tradeclub prices for cambelt kits, they are still far from competitive.

Dad was talking to the TC rep yesterday about this, and hes very aware of it but as hes from an outsourced company, can do nothing about it.

The view I get from the dealers sudgests its floundering a little.

The general service items are fine (although not as good as they used to be) but, some of the more advanced items e.g. Radiators, cambelt kits, water pumps etc are not competitive or even close to competitive.

As an example, an Astra G 1.6 16V radiator (Z16XEP).

Trade club price - £140.94p (retail £210)

Valeo one from a factors....sub 70 quid!

And guess what make the Vx one is.

They have also done some rather daft things like spark plugs for other makes, I mean, do you think of going to your Vx dealer for Ford spark plugs....even if your a trader you wouldn't. Hence they now have surplus stock of these and are giving a load away free when you buy 205 litres of oil.

I suspect it will continue but, it needs a full review and a bloody good shakeup

GM not likely to drop the the original price to bring the key parts in range either i guess, given their curent financial position.

However i like the idea of other makes. All makes would be nice, or at least the popular money making ones, but needs to be thoroughly advertised and possibly not seen to be too aligned with gm to attract other makes in the first place.

If motor factors are taking their share then do they need to compete on the same level? I know several people in the trade but few deal with vx trade club. Its all factors who deliver. I've mentioned the oil deals which has had good interest...

Car parts super market would be nice...as if.

Fair play to Andy C though for the offer, and he's always on here giving part numbers, prices and advice.

I wish my local VX dealer was 1/100th as interested/knowledgeable in the Omega. I can literally throw stones onto their forecourt from my garage, but there are only so many times I can be told 'thank you for ringing our counter bell, but I can't serve you as I am going to a meeting' or 'sorry but your call has come back unanswered to Debs on the switchboard'.

Just wish I lived nearer Thetford.

Evans Halshaw in York *cough* tossers*cough* don't support the trade club.
A parts guy there told me that EH are so arrogant that they believe they give the best prices anyway - which they certainly don't!
