bust rear spring, mv6 with self levelling?
« on: 05 February 2010, 18:22:26 »

had an almighty clang from the back of my Elite with self levelling while going over a speed bump. "i know what that is" i thought, had a look today and true enough almost all of the thin bit of the spring is missing from the bottom rear pass side.

Thing is i have a pair of mv6 rear springs in the garage
that i never got round to fitting. Will these work with self levelling rear shocks?

...baring in mind i fitted mv6 rear shocks a while back and both failed before i had a chance to fit said springs.

self levelling shocks have different springs - I posted some part numbers a few months ago when mine were done

You ahev 2 choices.

Fit the MV6 springs which if off a pre-facelift will be normal springs anyway and not suited to self leveling.

Or buy a spring for self leveling (KYB do one)

they came to me as face lift but the parts man said the numbers on the front shocks, which are fitted, suggest pre fl, springs look a bit tired anyway tbh,

do kyb deliver the same performance?

I fitted "Standard" springs with my self levellers. after a lot of thought and discussion with "The Master" and we decided that the difference was minimal (in rebound rate) and can report that there are  no noticeable side effects... If anything it's a little tighter in the rear ;) ;) :y :y

hmmm, i suppose stiffer springs would give the dampers an easier time? if so mv6 lowered sport chassis springs might work? parts man was fairly certain plod add self levelling shocks to mv6 due to the weight they carry etc.
