How hot is yours??
« on: 02 February 2010, 09:16:47 »

I have just done a coolant flush on the mig and put in the new type coolant (I made sure I flushed all the old stuff out)

However the temperature still varies from about 90 upto about 97 or thereabouts. Is this normal? On my other cars once the engine is upto temperature the leccy fans keep the engine at a constant temp.

No, running 90 to 97 on a v6 is too high. 85 to 90 is about right for a v6.

No its not, its half way on the gauge.

markh1 has mini-facelift, so it is 95 on a normal run, up to 97 in traffic, fans kick in, brings it down to 95.

If yours runs at 85 on pre-facelift stat is nackered.

Then yours is fine, pre-facelifts run hotter on the dash, 95 is normal

middle of the temp gauge is where it should run, note pre-facelift is 95, facelift, 90:

Mini-facelift

Facelift

4 pots run cooler, since i did my 4 pot stat, which is soooooooo much easier than the b@stard of the V6 one, runs at 85 all the time, only time i get it to 90 is in stop start hot summer traffic
