fit 3.2 into 2.2?
« on: 06 February 2010, 21:31:44 »

hey, does anyone know if it possible to fit the running gear of a 3.2 into a 2.2 with little hassle? in other words is it possible to plug in the wiring beside the battery and the 3.2 will start?

never say never I put a 2.0 redtop from a calibra in a nova boy that car could shift.
took about 4 months hardest part was the donor engine wiring loom
when you say running gear you would need everthing rear diff the lot etc etc big job but is it worth it.

anything is possible, given enough funds and time. It would be easier and cheaper to buy 3.2 with the car already attached

Well I bought a northern Ireland ex cop car and it is striped out inside and no glass, a bit of a mess really. I have a 2.2 with the engine blown so i thought about fitting the 3.2 to it as it better equiped, (heated seats, electric rear windows etc)
I had a better look today and the brian won't fit the 2.2 plug and off course no traction control unit. so I'm guess I would need the whole wiring loom inside and out from the 3.2 for it to work.

Yup, bit of a nightmare really, can under stand the thoughts behind the swap, though about it for mine at one point, but its a lot of work.

We have a few NI members, and the price Omegas go for over there is lot higher than here. It might be worth doing the swap the other way around and put the contents of the 2.2 in the 3.2 (door cards, seats, ect)

Also think of the road tax over there! A 3.0 is 2000 euros a year road tax!
