2.2 DTI Glow Plug Problems
« on: 12 February 2010, 12:39:32 »

Before I rush out and get yet another new set of GPs anyone any ideas on the root cause of the problem?
Sympton 1 ......Get P1635 code (from memory- some time ago) and diagnose one or more faulty GPs. They tend to go high resistance, several hundred ohms rather that about 1 ohm. Change glow plugs and within 6-7 months same thing happens.
Sympton 2.......When car was newer (2001) on a mild day the GP indicator light would come on very breifly and then car would start instantly.  More recently GP indicator only comes on when it is really cold  (about 2 degrees or below) and car starts reasonably with cranking. If it is warmer, GP light does not come on and car will start, but with considerable cranking. This also applies if car has been run. left and then restarted when it could be considered to be still warm.   I have changed coolant temp sender. Any reccomendations on good cost effective GP supplier? :-/
