Console Dash
« on: 15 February 2010, 04:04:43 »

Hey Guys,

I have a 2001 Cadillac Catera (2001 Opel Omega MV6).

Anyone here have instructions or a guide on how to remove the center console (gear shifter area) so I can access the driver and passenger side climate temp control motors?  Mine are not working at the moment, but the motors activate..  I'm guessing the arm are disconnected.

I'd like to safely remove this center console... I'd hate to break clips.

Thanks in advance!

Mine is prefacelift, so may be slightly different.

Gaiter around auto gear lever pulls up (pull up from front first). 2 screws holding plastics to console
My centre console (different to yours) unscrews
handbrake gaiter off - which reveals a screw holding plastics to centre console.
2 bolts then revealed holding the console in place - remove and slide console back a bit (may need to remove rear air vents.

Above is from memory, but no silly clips IIRC

No need to remove it to access the control arms. If you slightly bend back the ends of the console in the footwells either side of the transmission tunnel the arms are easy enough to re-attach. If you still want the console removed, have a read of this http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1212562967
