I would just like to say thank you...
« on: 13 February 2010, 19:35:51 »

I would just like to say thank you to Darth Loo-knee.

Twice now he has driven down from Stoke to work on my car. A couple of weeks ago he came down and changed the cam cover gaskets for me after my local garage thought they were doing me a favour by tightening down the cam covers when all they did was bugger it up and cause massive oil leaks. Whilst he was here he suggested there was a developing issue with the water pump and plug leads and I should keep an eye on them.

2 weeks later the water pump duly began to sound like it was dragging a large rock along the road.

Another phone call and "Omegaman" visits again.

New oil and filter, new aux belt, new water pump, new plugs, replacement 6th sparkplug lead, new cam belt (full kit).................. and adjusted the bonnet release so it is no longer a two man job to open the bonnet.

Thanks for everything mate and I will endeavour to remember to change the oil in 3000 miles.

I am hoping the recent trials and tribulations are behind me and as I sit and tap this missive the car sits outside with 2 new tyres, new MOT, full service, new cam cover gaskets, new plugs and a replacement lead, new water pump and anti-freeze, new cam belt and tensioners, new auxilary belt. new oil and filter, a bonnet that opens properly and a stamped up service booklet.

Monday morning bright and early I have the car booked into a local tyre centre for an hour to have all the cambers and casters, front and back, as well as the alightment checked and adjusted.

.............. that'ly do me for a while .............

well I do need a set of cream leather seats and a replacement lid for my centre armrest, but those will come.....

(A little tip for forum members if they are considering using Darth's talents - he charges more if you talk to him...  ;D )

No not really................... but he has got quick hands...

Cheers mate.. :y

after having the tracking and cambers done - front and back on passenger side was well out - I had 2 new tyres on the front.

Whilst the car was on the ramp I had a good look around for oil leaking.

The only place that now is wet with oil is around the bottom at the back of the engine, seemingly under the oil filter housing, definately not the filter or housing or mating surface to the block, around the sump and across the bottom yet I have no idea where it might by coming from.

It is not enough to cause a smell or drip from the car and there seems no effect, yet, on the oil level as shown on the dipstick. It is enough to see it and make the area wet and shiney.

Suggestions ?

The oil may be the remains of the previous leaks that you had, so clean up the area and above with spray brake cleaner and keep an eye on it over the the next few days.
