gearbox on a 3.0 V6 S Reg Elite

All lights on the g/box selector are now lit up and when the car is in D it appears to be sluggish..... Any ideas?????

Sounds like the selector might need cleaning/replacing. Does it drive OK if you manualy select the gears ?? If so its probably the selector permanantly in 3rd when D selected

Selector switch on side of box is faulty. Replace (with a known good 2nd hand one)

and yes it seems to drive ok in 3rd and i can then change into d when moving

Obvious when you look at it (Nearside of box).

1 connector, 1 mechanical link to lever, 2 bolts hold in place.
