Aircon blower failed ?
« on: 25 February 2010, 11:31:31 »

A new problem this morning, the aircon blower does not blow at all at any temp setting . The display shows up fine and I can just feel warm air at the vents but only by convection not blown.  Is there anything simple to check before booking it in to a garage ? I had a aircon flap linkage repaired about 10 days ago and that cured blower only out of L/H vent but the blower has worked fine till now . Dont know if these two issues could be connected. Thanks for any suggestions as to what I could check .

No blown fuses , and everything else is fine , since there is not a fuse specific to the blower it  doesn't seem to be that

Up behind the glovebox fixed to the inner bulkhead. Should be able to access the connectors from the footwell. Two spade connectors IIRC. Have you checked the fuses under bonnet by battery :question

Is the drain at the botton of the pollen filter housing blocked with leaves etc. If blocked, water fill the well into the car, the first thing it drowns is the cabin fan.  :-/

Local main dealer had a look this morning and determined the blower motor had failed an needed replacing £200 + . He had taken the cover of under glove box then put on re-circ which exposes the fan, he said it was stiff to turn and current test at motor and resistor were fine . So off I go to think it over . .... on the way home the blower worked fine !! and still is . So I assume it was just stuck ?? at least I know how to get to it now if it stops again and give it a spin ..... time will tell if this was a one off !!

Let`s hope so. If it does transpire that the blower is breaked I`ve got one here a damn sight cheaper than 200 quid :o

if you can get to it a squirt of wd40 might do it a bit of good or even spray grease

May well try that , though he thought it couldn't be reached without taking glove box out etc. I may have a look around with my newly purchased ' Seesnake' ..another ebay bargain .
