Drivers Side Airbag goosed
« on: 22 February 2010, 17:20:40 »

Well, after a long time of being intermittant....
looks like my side airbag has finally given up the ghost.

I used to be able to clean up the connection, and get a few months of no fault, then back from 2.x to 6.x Ohms, clean, and sorted again.

Now it is seconds between cleaning, resetting and fault recoccuring.

So its time for a permanent fix.

So, realistically can't see me getting a replacement side airbag (early mini-facelift type), so exactly what type of resistor will I need to fool the system?  (and don't suppose anyone has one lying around?  :y seems you can only buy packs of em)

Cheers

it is black & silver with a yellow push in, then push a clip in to lock if that makes sense?

just put the seat back together, but can do a photo if needs be?

Guess that as you say it normally reads 2ohms, then 2 ohms ;D

Enough people getting rid of cloth seats, somebody must have a spare airbag (which would be better option)

No, sorry the colour of the outer bit - black, light grey, beige etc ..

The coloured bit is moulded into the fabric holder & the whole things needs to be swapped out.

I am sure that is not a massive issue for a knowledgable person such as yourself?

I've only ever seen one type on mini facelift & also supplied some for a guy with a facelift. There is a connector on the bag itself and one under the main seat connector block, these are all in a fetching yellow colour.

I could understand pre mini facelifts having different connectors, except:

1) No MV6s then
2) No side airbags

Thats not really helping, is it ;D

there are 3 types listed in EPC, each superceeding the last, so guess its make the current style fit  ;D

That would lead me to think that the are the same connector, or they supply a new connector, so no problem to join.
