so how does the DIS-Pack get a spark to the plug with no lead????  (seriously.... ????? I've not yet owned a 3.2 so have no idea how different it is....   )

There is no DIS pack, there are coil packs which sit above each bank, the 'lead' is part of the coil pack:

This is a 4 pot version for the 2.2:

One coil per plug.

The dis packs on the 2.2, 2.6 & 3.2 are a strip of plastic wth 3 (or 4 on 2.2) little ignition coils that sit on top of each of the spark plugs.

When in place it just looks like a cover strip down the middle of the cam covers.

so now i get it.... clever....  i presume it's less prone to corrosion fromm leaky things like HBV and stuff then?    reliability improvement????

Err well not really, they don't seem to be any more reliable, heat is a problem i think for them. I replaced mine at 105k

Could it be that the idea is that since it is essentially low-tension right up till the last minute the leads won't wear out and therefore you don't have to get burnt trying to shove your arm up past the exhaust to fiddle blind with the DIS pack from h*ll?

I think oiled filters are available as either panel or cone filters.

They can work well with carburetors or throttle bodies but they mustn't be used with a MAF because particles of oil can get carried over to the MAF sensor and contaminate it.

I agree that the standard air intake should get cooler air than a cone filter would but I don't know if it will make that much difference if the car is moving :-/

thanks for all the replys everyone ,, i read the codes on a code reader dont remember the numbers now but it said missfire cyl 1 , 3, 5 , car must of been running in limp mode ,, i cleared the error codes and car seemed to run alot better then  ,,, i took it for a long drive yesterday and all was fine till about 20mils down the raod it went back into limp mode again and started to missfire ??? anyone have any ideas ??? im thinking the plugs or one of the plugs on 1,3,5 could be faulty ?????

I've had this on one of my classic cars, all new ignition components and still had a misfire. turned out to be the small silver cap on the plugs were loose so they weren't allowing a full spark through. Tightened them with pliers and all was well again. Not sure if that's it but an easy one to rule out ;)

ok so got some more new plugs today got them fitted went for another test drive and still missfires ??? so all in all ive done cam cover gaskets , spark plugs twice , coil pack , cleaned the MAF ,,, and there is still a missfire on cyl 1,3,5 ,, what else could it be im at my wits end and just feel like getting rid of the dam thing lol

checked the bits on end of plugs they are tight  :( so still no idea what it is ????
