removing/replacing headlight units - help!
« on: 02 March 2010, 14:58:06 »

I'm trying to fit some L/H drive headlamps to my 98 2.0 GLS, can't find out how to remove the body/trim strip that holds the front in. The excellent pictorial guide in the general maintenance/exterior is for a later model, mine is different. I can find the three plastic push-up clips on the strip, but can't work out whats holding the ends in place; there appears to be a metal clip at the outer end that is clamped tight by a metal screw, head of which appears to be at the end you can't see or access. On the inner end, there is virtually no access - do you have to remove the front centre grille first? How is this done?
Thanks in anticipation!

Sorted it, after removing all the shrouds round the rad and finding the screw at the inner end. Interestingly, the 'hidden screw' on the headlight (the bracket underneath) does not align with the aperture under the headlight to insert a long drive as suggested in the pictorial, you have to get at it from underneath. Wish I had a ramp!

i never use a ramp, a long bar and a 8mm usually does it for me. take the light brows / from under the light off. then you should get at it.
