I had to rev mine REALLY hard to get the multirams to move. (98 v6)

Give it a few blips then full throttle and trust in the rev limiter !

About to change my fuel filter too, be interesting to see what difference it makes

Whilst malfunctioning multirams will result in a noticeable loss of power, your issues sound worse than that, so I would look elsewhere.

Does the car run perfectly normally until warm? How far will it drive before you get problems?

Is the car getting up to normal running temperature ok?

Does the car accelerate OK under full throttle but run lumpy under light throttle?

Also - it's best not to throw new parts at a car with a problem. Find out what is causing it first. A fuel filter, for example, will affect the running whether the engine is hot or cold, so I doubt that is the issue.

I would be checking the coolant temperature sensor first, followed by the Lambda sensors and for any air leaks into the induction and exhaust systems.

Firstly, because the ECU could be fooled into thinking the engine is cold when it's not, hence running an incorrect mixture.

Secondly, when the engine is warmed up, the lambda sensors start to control the mixture, so if anything is fooling them it will affect warm running.

it depends. You might get a fuel trim code if they have taken the fuel far out. So, worth doing a paperclip test and reporting any codes.  :y

Hi Kevin,

The car runs fine until warm, it's getting up to running temperature ok and it does run lumpy under light throttle. The distance it drives before the problems starts depends on the day. On a warm day it'll start quicker than on a cold day. It seems to start when the automatic choke stops.

Can you tell me how to find the coolant temperature sensors, lambda sensors and induction and exhaust systems?

The first thing to do is check for fault codes, I would say.

Have a look here:

You need to do a paperclip test on your car. :y

does the paper clip test show any different faults that a diagnostic machine would show because have used a machine and no fault codes

No, but worth spending 5 minutes checking anyway.

Are there any signs of a blow from the exhaust manifolds or downpipes?

It might be worth considering getting it to one of us who have a Tech 2. See if there are any clues in the live data (e.g. we can check that the coolant temperature is being reported correctly).

Ignition system problems will often result in no fault code. Now, I know you have changed some items there but perhaps a coil pack?

I think it would be helpful for someone to have a look at the live data.

have you changed the fuel filter yet ?

I realise it should make a difference with engine hot and cold, but on past experience
(not omega's granted ), any fuel problems are much more obvious when engine warm and not running a rich mixture on "choke"

Could well be DIS pack based on lack of codes, I agree. Worth getting it out for a visible check on condition, pain in the @rse though it is.
