autobox staying in 3rd when hot

My auto works fine when cold but after a half hour run down the motorway it stays in 3rd so pulling away is like having a slipping clutch. This started a month ago and I topped up the ATF and seemed to be ok for a while. Haven't checked yet but maybe there's a leak.
Anything else to look for?

i take it you topped up the g/box with the engine running. ;)

Presumably you also get 'Automatic Gearbox' on the MID?  If so, ideally need to get it to someone with a decent code reader....

Ah ha, as I suspected.

Still need to get it on a code reader though, but probably reading engine codes as well as gearbox codes.  Does the EML come on?

The EML is not on during this problem.
Although a few weeks ago it came on and went into limp mode. I stopped, turned off the ignition and then back on and the problem had gone and been fine until now. Could this be related?

I'm VERY close to swindon :) and have a basic code reader, if it'll read a 2.2 you are welcome to pop over and we can try it.

Not done a 2.2 .. only V6's, but if it's OBDII then my reader will do the engine side, it "says" it will do some gearbox modules .. but it hasn't on the few cars its been plugged in to.

If you're interested give me a PM and I'll give you my number .. :)

Entwood read the codes - thanks
He started a new thread with the codes read but no codes were associated with the gearbox.
I'm going to continue running it and see if the problem persists!
