Erratic idle at times??
« on: 21 March 2010, 20:05:42 »

Hello again folks,my 2.6 mv6 seems to be revving up alot recently, esp when i come to road ends or pulling in to my driveway, doesnt matter when hot or cold.It usually revs up to around 2500/3000 revs and sits like that until i ride the clutch etc,i have recently cleaned out the throttle bodies(which were not overly bad) and no difference, what is the electrical unit on side of throttle body and is it possible to open it and clean it also, any help appreciated as it doesnt seem to be as quick as usual.Cheers

Have you cleaned your icv? ( if you have one.)
check that it is not pulling in any extra air, ie split or worn pipe.

I think the first port of call would be to do the pedal trick, to see if any codes are present. That would give you a good base to start from  :y

Not sure of the correct term, but it's the motor that does the opening of your throttle, the DBW throttle 'talks' to it.  :y :y :y

I've tried to find pictures of the differences, I'm sure they're there somewhere. EGR when fitted is on the driver's side of the plenum, IACV is on the other side.  :y  :y  :y. Both items dropped with DBW.  ;)
