General concensus is stick to gen VX.  Various tales of warping and cracking with various aftermarket makes but a lot depends on how hard you drive the car.

An axle set of pads and discs from VX on Trade Club is circa £75 plus VAT.  TC card from Autobhanstormers and other sites for about £20 per year.  Worth the dosh as you will recoup easily with a couple of oil changes and other stuff.   ;)

Replace discs in pairs, and replace pads at same time.  Don't forget the wear sensors.

I have warpped too many pattern discs, simply not worth the effort, so I stick to GM.  But then, apparently I'm heavy on brakes.
