Drivers heated seat inop
« on: 03 April 2010, 09:30:33 »

I recently noticed that the heated seat on the drivers side on my 02 Elite has stopped working, can anyone help point me in the right direction as to where to start ! is it a common problem ! all the other seats work fine.
Cheers

Common, and unless you are an upholsterer, not worth effort fixing.

If its leather, the official fix is a replacement seat (heater sewn into leather to make in work more effectively, rather than under it as with the case of cloth seats)

It's cloth, I was kinda hoping it was a common issue, an easy fix ! no such luck by the sounds of it.

Need to strip the seat and replace the heater pads.  You can try farting around checking fuses etc, but I bet its a failed pad.

If facelift, I think the pads are different(?) due a more intelligent thermostat.

Two separate pads. Prefacelift are wired in series soif one dies you lose both. Not sure of wiring differences betweem the older & newer cars as the later have variable heat settings.  :y

Hold on guys. Elite cloth seats are built in the same way as leather ones and as such don't have pads.

Its only the lesser models, and also MV6 leather, that have the separate pads.

I can only speak for pre/mini facelift models as they are the only ones that I've had apart.

The Elite seats have extra padding and have a long stranded element weaving back & forth inside the foam. The CD/CDX seats even with the same fabric (Dots IIRC) have less padding and separate elements.
