Aero Wipers - Again!
« on: 04 April 2010, 00:36:26 »

Bought a set from a seller on ebay - note the price!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300328820646#ht_3890wt_754
How good are they?
Silent.
Easy to fit.
Rear wiper covers the whole area it's supposed to.
No 'residue' left on the 'screen like the old wipers left.
Best of all - cheap. Less than £12 for set of three.
I had them two days after hitting the BIN button, so service was excellent too.

Now that's the second set I've bought cheap on ebay thinking it won't cost much if they're crap (first pair on the Carlton) and the second time I've been impressed with them.

Can't see me going back to traditional ones just yet!!! :y

That highlights the problem as to why so many people mistakenly think the aero type are better - simply because they compare to the worn out ones (can tell they are worn out, as they are noisy and not cleaning properly) they have taken off ;)

I'll stick to the proper ones, changed at proper intervals, work well, and are dirt cheap....

I fitted a pair of Halfords blades to the front screen back in November, cost over £25 IIRC, and were rubbish! :-/
The aero blades on the Carlton work much better than the Bosch ones that were on it, which weren't old by any means - thought I'd try aero ones as they were cheap enough to experiment with.

Just my findings! :y

There are a reason why the Halfords branded ones come out at around £6 a set (trade) - they are shite!

The Bosch Supers that hellfrauds sell, seem to recall are wrong for Omega (one too short?)

I use GM, around £8 the pair on TC, tend to change in spring (because my laziness ice has damaged them), and autumn (ready for winter)

main advantage is no springs and no springs means no pressure points concentrated in one area, the flat blade style give even pressure accross the screen and therefor dont sctratch like the standard ones do giving exceptionaly poor visibility when driving into the sun.

yes i agree with The Boy to a point as my Bosch Aero Blade Twin are not as quiet as genuine, drivers side thumps when changing direction when vertical for some reason, and thier design means they loose thier abbility to match thier screen shape when frozen for the first couple of minutes.

Bosch have been on for almost a year(???) now and had the valio style before hand which where poor imo(cant recommend those), no wear Marks yet on a Brand new screen (Dont expect any either bar the odd forign body) meaning superior visibility under ALL driving conditions. The price is a slight thump as mentioned, but only when it rains.

I bought mine from Tesco after a lot of thought, as I don't like change (i'm an old fart). They cost less than £12, and I have to say I am delighted with them, they are silent & clear the screen brilliantly & I would never go back to the original type which were not visibly worn, but driving me nuts with their squeeling & smearing. My screen has six scratched 'arcs' right across the drivers side & one ditto on the passenger side from the spring pressure on the old type & previous owners neglect :(
To sum up, I would highly recommend them, & you don't need to spend as fortune either! :y

Put them on my Omega, they were great, SAAB had the old type on them, they were noisy and didn't clean the screen half as good as the Aero style do. Had them on my van they were great too. BM is in need of new ones, has Aero ones on there but they're in need of a change, will order some from the seller you posted he's a cheap guy £8.99 for them  :y :y

I defiantely wouldn't go back to the old type.

No, actually they weren't TB, my screen had some sort of silicone coating on it which I believe the dealer put on it to mask the scratches, and I had a sod of a job to remove it, so the original blades to be fair, weren't being given the best of surfaces to clean? However, when I did get it cleaned (& the blades too) they still didn't perform anywhere near as well as the flat type IMHO.  ;) :y

If they were smearing and squealing when the screen was cleaned, then there were knackered ;)
