crank sensor is very rare failure on 4pot, have you had codes read?

Your kidding right...more common than V6 failures!

I've seen hardly any fail! Its always cam! Both our 2.2's never had crank sensors go but cam...
You will curse when your crank sensor fails, and ask why didn't GM make it as easy as a V6 one ;)

I still stand by their reliability, its always cam sensor 4 pot, crank on 6 pot

Post up results of paperclip test
::)
On most Omegas you don't need expensive equipment to read the fault codes, you just need a paper clip.

Read all about it here The Paperclip Test and then tell us what the codes are :y

Mate, do the paperclip test and post the results on here - it's easy to do and some of the experts on here may be able to spot something that your mate hasn't. Give it a go, surely better than scrapping it??
It may be something simple.. :y

Don't go by half guessed descriptions .. do the test and give us the CODE NUMBERS  .. you will then get the correct advice .. :)

Beleave me , the 4 pot ones are worse....and on the 2.0 also cause cam sensor incorrect signal errors with no crank sensor fault code!

Chuffing nightmare!

As the list states 2 possible crank sensors for the 2.0 16v perhaps the car falls into the later category and the crank sensor is the wrong one??

If it was a V6 I would know .. crank sensor .. but as its a 4 pot ... I'll leave it to an expert .. :)

I'm not an expert, but code 19 on a 4 pot is: Incorrect RPM signal (crankshaft sensor), check sensor. HTH  :y
