EGR Swapout
« on: 11 April 2010, 08:53:01 »

Chaps,

I've got a EGR valve to change out as mine is blowing. Do the studs come out ok? Are they know to snap? I guess plenty of WD40 on a cold EGR is the way to go? Thanks in advance.

some wd40 and tapping the studs will help ..and you can also block it with a piece of metal sheet..

Ok guys thanks for the advice. Trouble is, if I disconnect the EGR valve it brings up the EM light on the dash. Not that it's a problem but if it's on I wouldn't know if something else is amiss.....

Electrically, it needs to remain connected, but physically you can do anything :y

If its stuck open, it will effectively make it stuck shut, which is a much better state of affairs....
