Bought a 3lelite and had slot of work done on it and a garage is costing :'( a fortune The exhaust sounds like a boy racer starting up an going down the road and was told by the garage sum1 has put a after Market exhaust on it but can't say wot part is making the roaring sound.some1 else said it's the baffles all I know the sound seems to b coming from the boxes near front iv checked pipes no holes and been told for a complete new exhaust system for my elite is.......700quid.anyone got any ideas all I want is a quiet car with a nice sound of v6cheers

Try eternalcar on Ebay, loads cheaper and not bad quality ;)

I have just had a new system from Eternal from the cat back fitted to my 2.6 about £120 delivered, just allow about £50 to get it fitted  :y

I have Eternal on my MV6.  Definately not as quiet as the old style genuine GM, but what do you expect for £135 for the system.  Similar to new style genuine GM, and I would buy again.

I had the same exact same problem.

I purchased a couple of chrome tail pipers, cheap from Wilco and stuck them on. I found that by "extending" the cheapo back box out further that it quitened down a great deal. I concluded that the cheap box made the exit sound refurborate around and under the back bumper and by using the chrome pipes to extend beyond the back bumper more, the problem mostlly went away. Just sounds great now without the "boombox effect".
